Why I Believe Art Is Not a Luxury.
There's a common idea that art is something extra — something we get to enjoy once the practical parts of life are taken care of.
“Art is the concrete representation of our most subtle feelings.” – Agnes Martin
But what if we looked at it differently?
For me, art has always felt less like a luxury and more like a quiet necessity, something that helps me make sense of the world, slow down, and reconnect with myself when life feels loud or demanding.
It asks us to pause in a world that constantly asks us to hurry.
And in that pause, something shifts.
Art connects us- in ways that words often can’t.
Wherever I travel, I seek every art gallery I can possibly visit.
It’s how I get to know a place beyond its surface.
I choose hotels in cities with arts districts whenever I can.
Something about it just fills my soul, and I believe it can for you too.
Maybe today, you visit a gallery and take home a small piece of original art. It doesn’t matter whether it’s large or small — only that it feels meaningful to you.
Another day, you might visit an artist at work.
Or step into a museum and experience art on a grander scale.
Art isn’t a luxury.
It’s one of the ways we remember who we are.
